We believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are integral to fulfilling our mission of enhancing families’ learning through inspired play. A museum is an anchor in a community. It helps build awareness and understanding among people of diverse age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities/disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geographic region, and more.
Knowing that children are astute observers of the world, the FLIP Museum is in a unique position to represent diversity, inclusion, and the cultural competence that helps to build awareness and understanding for children, who will become tomorrow’s visionaries.
To create an inclusive environment that positively reflects our community, we commit to the following Diversity Equity and Inclusion goals:
Transparency about the way we work and how decisions are made.
Creation of a DEI statement and strategy for the FLIP Museum; we will revisit the statement and strategy at least annually, if not more often, to reiterate our commitment and make sure all employees and volunteers are aligned.
Elements of the DEI strategy incorporated in hiring, onboarding and employee performance review as well as board recruitment, exhibition planning, and program development.
Implementation of key performance indicators to measure the statement and strategy’s success.
